Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Work Assistant, provided by Aritro Biswas ("we", "us"), handles information when you use our desktop application and website. We designed the product so that sensitive monitoring is off by default and only ever runs with your explicit, informed consent.

Information we collect

Account & contact information

If you create an account or contact us, we collect the details you provide, such as your name and email address.

Tasks, goals & conversations

The tasks, goals, and voice or text conversations you create are stored so the assistant can function. Voice is transcribed to text to be processed.

Activity data (opt-in only)

If — and only if — you accept the in-app consent disclosure, the application records limited information about your active window (such as the application name and window title) at intervals, in order to power alignment nudges. This capture is disabled until you opt in, and you can disable it at any time. We do not capture keystrokes or screen contents.

How we use information

• To provide and operate the assistant's core features.
• To generate nudges that compare your activity to your stated goals.
• To respond to support and account requests.
• To maintain the security and reliability of the service.

Model providers

To provide voice and language features, data may be processed by the model provider you have configured — either a third-party provider such as OpenAI, or a self-hosted server you control. The consent disclosure names who processes your data; changing the provider re-triggers consent.

Your choices and rights

• Access & export. You can export the data the application holds about you at any time.
• Deletion. You can request deletion of your data by contacting us.
• Withdraw consent. You can turn off activity monitoring whenever you like.
• Report content. You can report content you're uncomfortable with from inside the app.

Data retention

We keep your account, task, and goal data for as long as your account is active. Voice input is transcribed to text for processing and is not retained as audio afterwards. Activity data (the name and title of your active window) is captured only while you have opted in, and is retained only as long as needed to generate nudges before being aggregated or deleted on a rolling basis. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we must retain records to meet legal, accounting, or tax obligations.

Children's privacy

Work Assistant is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
