Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Unwaver, provided by Aritro Biswas ("we", "us"), handles information when you use our desktop application and website. We designed the product so that sensitive monitoring is off by default and only ever runs with your explicit, informed consent.

Information we collect

Account & contact information

If you create an account or contact us, we collect the details you provide, such as your name and email address.

Tasks, goals & conversations

The tasks, goals, and voice or text conversations you create are stored so the assistant can function. Voice is transcribed to text to be processed. When a nudge asks whether to move a task you are working on to In Progress, the microphone listens for five seconds afterwards so you can answer yes; that recording is transcribed only to act on your answer, and neither the audio nor the transcript is kept.

Activity data (opt-in only)

If — and only if — you accept the in-app consent disclosure, the application records limited information every 30 seconds: the title of your active window, the name of its program, how many seconds have passed since you last typed or moved the mouse (the timing only, never what you typed), and whether your screen is locked. We use it to time nudges and compare your activity to the task you have marked In Progress. This capture is disabled until you opt in, and you can disable it at any time. We do not capture keystrokes, screenshots, clipboard contents, or the contents of any page or document.

Website visits (only if you say yes)

Our website uses PostHog, a product analytics service, to learn which of our posts and links bring people to Unwaver, and whether they go on to download it and subscribe. Until you answer the cookie prompt, we only count page visits (the page, the link that brought you there, your browser and device type, and your approximate location worked out from your IP address) and store nothing on your device. If you say yes, PostHog sets a first-party cookie on our domain that remembers your visits, and when you later verify your email or open the checkout from the app, those visits are linked to your account's ID (never your email address), so we can see which post led to a subscription. If you say no, the website sends nothing to PostHog. You can change your answer at any time with "Cookie choice" at the bottom of every page.

Separately, our servers tell PostHog when an account is created and when a subscription starts or ends, identified only by that account ID. None of this is used for advertising or sold, it doesn't follow you to other sites, and it never includes your tasks, goals, conversations or activity data.

How we use information

• To provide and operate the assistant's core features.
• To generate nudges that compare your activity to the task you have marked In Progress.
• To respond to support and account requests.
• To maintain the security and reliability of the service.

AI service providers

To provide voice and language features, our backend sends the relevant data to third-party AI providers that process it on our behalf:

• OpenAI turns your speech into text, generates the assistant's replies and nudges, reads replies aloud, and compares new tasks and goals with your existing ones to spot duplicates. It receives your voice audio, your messages, your tasks and goals, and — only if you have opted in to activity monitoring — your window titles and program names.
• Tavily runs web searches when the assistant needs current information. It receives only the search query the assistant writes, which may reflect what you asked; no account details are sent with it.

You do not need an account with either. The activity-monitoring disclosure in the app names who processes your activity data; if that changes, the disclosure version is updated and you are asked to consent again.

We also use service providers to run the Service: Render (application hosting and database), Brevo (account and verification emails), PostHog (the website and subscription analytics described above) and Paddle.com (our Merchant of Record, which processes payments, billing and tax when you subscribe). Each receives only the data it needs for that job.

Your choices and rights

• Access & export. You can export your data from the app at any time, including your account details, tasks, goals, conversations, nudges and activity.
• Deletion. You can delete your data, or your whole account, from inside the app at any time, or ask us to do it for you.
• Withdraw consent. You can turn off activity monitoring whenever you like, and change your website cookie choice from the footer of any page.
• Report content. You can report content you're uncomfortable with from inside the app.

Data retention

We keep your account, task, and goal data for as long as your account is active. Voice input is transcribed to text for processing and is not retained as audio afterwards. Activity data (the name and title of your active window) is captured only while you have opted in, and the raw readings are deleted automatically after 7 days. Each time the app checks your activity for a nudge, it also keeps a record of that check (the window titles it looked at, how each was labelled, and which nudge, if any, was chosen) so we can check and improve how nudges are decided. These records are deleted after 7 days along with the readings they quote, are erased when you delete your data, and are not included in the export. Nudges the assistant sends you, including the short summary of recent activity each one was based on, are kept with your conversation history. When you delete your account in the app, any subscription is cancelled and your data is deleted straight away; if you ask us to delete it instead, we do so within 30 days. Either way, we may keep records we must retain to meet legal, accounting, or tax obligations, and Paddle.com, as Merchant of Record, keeps its own record of your purchases.

Children's privacy

Unwaver is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
